The art of packing up your items is especially important nowadays when a lot of people love travelling and even more of them tend to use online service to make their shopping more convenient. On-line shopping becomes extremely popular as it gives its clients a wonderful opportunity to buy everything they need from their house, workplace or even holiday resort. In this respect the issue of packing up various items in a convenient way gains much importance. Special attention should be paid when working with fragile goods that are made, for instance, of glass, or other materials that may be easily damaged. The improperly packed items may be broken during the transportation period and in this way spoil your impression from travelling or keep you from using something you have bought. For a client or a friend not to feel bitter disappointment or even frustration when unpacking the delivered goods, one who sends something using transportation services should clearly differentiate between good and bad ways of arranging components of the package according to different purposes.
Here we are going to suggest some worst ways to pack up your fragile items:
1) Pack it in a paper or plastic bag without wrapping in some soft material that can prevent your item from being broken. If you put something (for example, a glass) into a paper bag, this glass can be easily damaged in a number of different ways: it can fall down in a car that transports it, or other packages may fall on it and break it.
2) Pack several fragile items together without putting some soft separating material between them. When being transported packages may often bump into one another and if several elements are put into a bag or box without being properly separated, these elements usually hit one another and may be completely broken, cracked or just scratched.
3) Pack a fragile item into a box that is too small for it. If the box is smaller than needed, it would be quite difficult both to put the piece into it and, as well, to take it out from the box. In such a case those who unpack the delivered materials will have to put significant efforts to pull the stuff out of the cover. While doing this one may cause damage to the fragile details.
4) Pack the fragile elements into a too large box without filling the empty space in this box. If there is plenty of room in the package, the items will be moving freely in it and this may lead to various types of damage such as cracks, scratches, etc. If you put a piece of something fragile in a big package, it is highly advisable to fill the empty space with material able to isolate fragile elements from each other and from rolling over through the whole unfilled place. For such a purpose one may use foam plastic, old newspapers done into small balls, several layers of pellicle to wrap the item, soft cloth, pieces of cardboard, etc.
5) Pack the elements made of different types of material together. If you put glass and iron elements into one package, metal is likely to damage glass, especially if these are not separated by any partitioning from isolating material. If it is impossible to put elements of different material separately, one may wrap each of them into a paper, polythene or cloth, in this way preventing breakage or any other spoilage of the parts packed.
6) Pack items that need to be stored exclusively in dry places (e.g. smartphones, tablets, any other gadgets) in such a way that some water or any other liquid can leak on them and spoil them or a part of them. A lot of devices that need to be stored in dry places have to be packed separately and in waterproof package. In other case they may be easily destructed by wet or damp environment.
7) Pack a lot of items, especially fragile ones, into a weak packaging, making it to heavy to be carried. If the whole packaging falls down, most of the items may appear to be broken.
8) Make the unsteady handle for the heavy packaging. Irrespectively of the fact of how nicely you arrange the parts inside the parcel, if you make a weak handle, you may lose all your belongings when they fall down. To avoid this always check whether the handle is reliable enough to carry the load of the box or bag.
9) If you are travelling to some distant places, the worst thing to do is to put your fragile belongings on the very top of your bag. It is especially awful when you have to deal with this bag in an overcrowded bus or train – either you, or somebody else may accidentally sit on the bag and completely destroy all the fragile parcels in it.
10) One more bad way to deal with fragile things is to forget to glue the special picture marking the fragile things – if you do not do this, everybody transporting your goods will treat the package as that containing nothing special, and as a result you may get only smithers instead of the whole unspoiled item.
